Tracheostomy Emergency Red bag

Each Tracheostomy patient should have their own emergency red bag at their bed space.

  • Check its contents

  • Ensure the bag is tagged and labelled

  • For any transfers take the red bag with you

 This needs to be sealed and checked each shift!

Contents:

  1. Tracheostomy tube (patient size) and same brand

  2. Tracheostomy tube (one size smaller), same brand

  3. 10ml syringe

  4. Mapleson c-circuit 2 litres

  5. Catheter mount.

  6. Yankauer suction

  7. Sterile disposable gloves (6)

  8. Suction catheter size 10 &12Fr (3 each)

  9. Emergency algorithm

  10. Granuflex 10x10cm dressing

  11. Tubifoam/ tracheostomy tape/ velcro fasteners

  12. Stitch cutter & scissors

  13. KY Jelly / lubricant

  14. Tracheal dilator

  15. Paediatric anaesthetic face mask (size 1)
